MTJ Publishing Submission Guidelines
MTJ Publishing is always interested in working with new writers and artists. The guidelines below will give you an idea of what we’re looking for and how to submit your work.
FICTION:
We are looking for exciting, well-plotted fiction that vividly evokes the experience of tickling or being tickled. Interrogation and abduction fantasies are welcome, and we’re always interested in hearing about the lesser-explored byways of our fetish, both dark and light. We are very open to same-sex material, both F/F and M/M.
We publish novellas and collections of four or more short stories in digital ebook format. We are open to longer works, but as a rule of thumb ebooks should be a minimum of 12,000 words in length. If you have a single short story you are interested in submitting to our magazine Tales from the Asylum, please contact MTJpub to find out when we’ll be reading for the next issue.
Our collections are usually grouped around a specific theme. For example, Colin’s Laughing Boys or Rohana’s Tormented Soles features F/M tickling. J.R.’s Barefoot Bouquet features barefoot tickling; and Xodlirv’s Make Her Talk features interrogation. Other examples can be found on the MTJ Publishing website. We tend to be more interested in contemporary/realistic scenarios, as these sell better, but we are open to science fiction & fantasy-themed material.
Please submit any questions you might have to MTJ Publishing. You may inquire about an unfinished project, but we cannot commit to publishing anything until we’ve had a chance to review and evaluate a complete manuscript.
ARTWORK:
We are always looking for new artists to produce cover illustrations for our ebooks as well as complete e-comics. Any prospective artists are urged to check out the MTJ Publishing Deviant Art page at mtjpub.deviantart.com, where samples of our covers and comics can be found. In general, we need strong comic artists who can produce attractive images involving bondage, helpless laughter, and bare and stocking feet (especially soles). Our most successful artists have mastered a style that is realistic but also slightly exaggerated (FTKL, Bandito, Scavenger, Darkjak and Umojar are a few outstanding examples). Good manga-style artwork is particularly welcome.
If you are interested in producing e-comics for us, we are happy to consider completed comics you have scripted yourself or hear about projects you have in mind. Storylines should be packed with good visual representations of tickling, following the same subject guidelines as fiction (see above).
We also need artists who are willing to work with completed scripts from our writers, both single projects and ongoing series. Interested artists should contact us.
PAYMENT:
MTJ Publishing typically pays 50% royalties on fiction ebooks and artist-created e-comics. We do not pay advances at this time.
We pay $40 for single stories for Tales from the Asylum and $50 for single illustrations. Rates for finished e-comics scripted by one of our writers vary; contact us for more details.
NOTE: We do not publish any material involving characters under the age of eighteen (including flashbacks to scenes in a character’s childhood), excessive violence, or death. We also do not publish material based on celebrities or characters or worlds owned by other creators. If you are unsure if your project contains unacceptable material, please contact us
